Introduction

President Clinton signed into law the Rehabilitation Act Amendments (Section 508) in August 1998. Section 508 compels public agencies to provide Web content, including eLearning products, that comply with the requirements of the act. To accomplish accessible courseware design, faculty members and instructional designers must increase their understanding of Section 508 requirements as they relate to online course development. Faculty and staff also must develop an awareness of and compassion for the disabilities that affect a student's ability to learn in an online environment. This WebQuest will take you on a tour of Section 508 and the different disabilities with which students may be dealing. You will also develop skills for locating Section 508 resources on the Internet.

Please continue with the Tasks.
